ABOUT ME

DR. PETER RUDOLF

FROM POLITICAL ADVISOR TO COUPLE COUNSELOR

Born in 1958, I studied political science, Catholic theology and education and later worked as a political scientist and foreign policy advisor until May 2024.

For many years, I have done voluntary work in parental counseling. I am also a trainer for the course “Kinder im Blick", a coaching program for parents going through divorce or separation. I have completed intensive training programs in integrative couple therapy at Norddeutsche Paarakademie (North German Couple Academy)  in Hamburg and in psychodynamic couple counseling/couple therapy at Evangelisches Zentralinstitut für Familienberatung (Evangelical Central Institute for Family Counseling) in Berlin. In addition, I have obtained training in emotionally-focused couple therapy.

I know what I'm talking about because I've lived it. I've been together with my wife since 1982. We've been through a lot together, including seeking counseling, arguing about typical couple issues, and trying to change each other. We've hurt each other and made up again. We've been in long-distance relationships and close ones, too. We've also raised three kids together and weathered a life-threatening crisis. I look back on more than 40 years of partnership and I'm grateful to say that we've grown together and through each other.
