COUPLE COUNSELING

COUPLE COUNSELING

My approach to couple counseling integrates methods  from different approaches to couple therapy, including systemic, psychodynamic, behavioral, and emotion-focused. All of these approaches have their pros and cons. That means the counselor has to be able to use different methods in a way that's right for your problems.

I'll work with you in a way that's both understanding and solution-oriented. You come to me with your conflicts and problems, and I'll work with you to focus on the deeper concerns and issues that often lie behind them. The current conflict is often just the tip of the iceberg. During our sessions, you'll have the chance to make new emotional experiences that could help improve your relationship.

It depends on how couples handle recurring conflict issues that often develop a momentum of their own, leading to a downward spiral that's difficult to stop. Couple therapy helps you understand how arguments start, what makes them worse, and what you both need from each other. When partners are open about their vulnerability and needs, they can overcome the loneliness often felt in relationships and experience a new connection. During this process, I'll also help you learn new ways to communicate that are more empathetic and appreciative.

I believe that couple counseling can help you understand your own emotions and needs better and express them in a way that makes it easier for your partner to respond to them. At the same time, you'll be able to see your partner's feelings and reactions in a different light and better understand their emotions and actions.
